Wonderful Memory of Love

TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal is a one of the eighth wonders in the World. It is the most beautiful monument built by the muslim emperor Shah Jahan (also known as prince Khurram) in memory of his beloved wife, Queen Mumtaz Mahal (Arjumand Bhanu Begum ) at Agra India.

Taj Mahal has a beautiful love story behind its construction; Shah Jahan the son of Jehangir the fourth mughal emperor of India was bourn in 1592. At the age of fourteen he fell in love at first sight with Arjumand Bhanu Begum, a muslim persian princess. He married her after five years and they were leading a very happy life.

Though she was his third wife, she was his favourit and she even accompanied him on his military endeavores.

In the year 1631, when Mumtaz Mahal giving birth to their 14th child, she died due to some complications. it is said that Shah Jehan was so heartbroken after her death and it is beleived that he promised to built the world's most beautiful monument in her memory.

Few years after her death, Shah Jehan started the construction of Taj Mahal. It took approximately 22 years to build it employing twenty thousand workers and thousand elephants. it was built entirely from white marble which was brought from all over the India and central Asia.

Shah Jehan built this magnificent monument as a tribute to his beloved wife which we today known as the Taj Mahal.
